Assol
a Fairy Tale from the Days When Russians Didn’t Know English

Only a person who does not know English could name a fairy-tale character like that. Or did he give the girl that name on purpose?)

Once upon a time, a Russian dreamer named Alexander Grin wrote a fairy tale about a simple girl who lived long ago. She didn’t dream of a prince on a white horse – no, that would’ve been too basic – but of one who’d arrive on a frigate with crimson sails.
More modern standards, you see? (Not even every billionaire would pass that audition. Millionaires? Disqualified for insufficient funds.)

And so she waited… and waited… until one day – plot twist – her dream came true.
Her prince arrived… the modern kind: an old, fat, rich sleazebag on a yacht with red sails. Technically, her wish was granted -just not as she’d imagined. And let’s be real, his photo wouldn’t even make her Instagram feed…

This is the prince. Only such a prince can achieve Assol’s dream.

Cut to: her fainting dramatically on the shore. True love? Nah. Just a happy accident of low standards and high hopes.

The gallery has modern Assols, different looks and different sailboats…
